Classes 79(1), 79(2) and 79(3) In a road or rail vehicle the drive from a gas turbine is transmitted through a hydraulic torque converter and a change speed gear. The change speed gear may be of the continous traction type. As shown the change-speed gear is formed by primary and secondary shafts 1, 6, a pinion 2 being keyed to and pinions 7, 8 rotatably mounted on and capable of being clutched to the shaft 1, and gears 3, 9 having free wheel connections with and a gear 10 being keyed to the shaft 2. The change speed gear may alternatively be formed by arrangements of planet gears.
