Class 39(1) In an electrostatic precipitator. each collecting electrode comprises a series of dust shoots each having a rounded part 1 projecting laterally from the central plane of the electrode and presenting a convex surface to the gas stream and terminating in a curled over edge 4. As shown, the shoots are formed in pairs, the shoots in each pair being joined by a central part having corrugations 2 extending along each side. In another embodiment alternate single shoots face opposite sides of the electrode. The shoots may be inclined at an angle of between 55 degrees and 80 degrees to the horizontal, and may be covered with semi-conducting material.
