A process for producing on cellulose acetate rayon dyeings fast to cross-dyeing

Dyeings on cellulose acetate rayon, having a good fastness to cross-dyeing, are obtained by treating the material in an aqueous ammoniacal bath containing an organic solvent having a weakly basic reaction, e.g. mono- or di-ethanolamine, and a mixture of 1-amino-2 : 5-dimethoxy-4-nitrobenzene and an alkali metal salt of 1-(21:31-hydroxynaphthoylamino) - 2-methyl-4 methoxybenzene or 1-(21:31-hydroxynaphthoylamino) -2-methoxybenzene or 1-(21-hydroxy carbazole-31-carboxylamino-4-chlorobenzene, effecting diazotization on the fibre e.g. with aqueous sodium nitrite-hydrochloric acid and then developing the dye in a hot bath, e.g. aqueous sodium acetate. The bath may also contain the condensation product from oleic acid chloride and an albumen decomposition product, preferably lysalbic acid, according to Specification 413,016.
