An improvement in or modification of the invention claimed in claim 1 of the parent Specification is characterised in that the or each locking bar 15 is spring influenced by a helical compression spring 22 disposed around the bar and confined between a stop 23 formed or provided thereon and a member 18 wherein one end of the bar is slidably located. The operating members 5 movable by the key drawer 4, each have slots 6, 6a slidably engaging screws 9, 9a secured to an inner wall of the desk pedestal and each one urged to the drawer opening position shown, by a helical spring 10 anchored to the screw 9 and a lug 11 on the member 5. An inclined cam slot 7 in the member 5 engages with a transverse rod 19, the ends of which engage in slots in the locking bars 15. As the drawer is moved to its closed position the cam slot will allow the rod 19 to rise and thus the bars 15 will rise under the action of the springs 22 so that projecting pins 16 will engage in catch members 12 of the drawers 3.
