731,522. Feeding pins to a potter's crank. ARROWSMITH, J., and McKNIGHT, J. Sept. 23, 1950, No. 23358/50. Class 87 (1). [Also in Group XXX] In apparatus for feeding pins into the upright of a potter's crank, the pins delivered in bulk into a hopper are collected or fed in a series of parallel streams into a row of guides, the guides having outlets so spaced apart as to register with the orifices in a crank upright when the latter is held in proximity to the said outlets. As shown, slide-plate E is arranged with its holes in line with discharge tubes C, and fixed plate F is arranged with its holes out of line with said tubes C, and in line with the holes of a potter's crank beneath. Pins are fed down the tubes C by agitation of slide B, pass through holes in plate E, and rest on plate F. Movement of plate E by handle G against spring H releases the pins to fall into the holes of the potter's crank. The upper edges of slide B are bevelled and "fixed" plate F is slightly movable against spring I by handle K to allow for imperfect spacing of the holes of the potter's crank.
