[Also in Group XXXIX] In a polarized relay or other instrument having a pivoted deflectable armature 13 mounted on a spring suspension system, each spring comprises two arms 21, 22 arranged at an angle to each other, the arm 21, which may be reduced in width, Fig. 5, being mainly responsible for allowing the pivoting movement by twisting and exerting a torsional force bearing the armature to a central position and the elbow 25 between the arms being " floating " so as to take up any differences of expansion with temperature of the various parts of the instrument. The invention is shown applied to a relay as described in Specification 619,546, the lower part of the armature moving between two pole-pieces 3 and the upper part carrying contacts 20. The arms 21, 22 are respectively fixed to blocks 27, and the armature 13. The Provisional Specification also refers to Specification 559,047.
