Class 61 In apparatus for servicing electrical devices which are arranged in an elevated position, a hollow pole 1 is fitted at one end with a gripping device comprising cup - shaped members 11 of resilient material, operated both directly from the top of the pole by a lever 9 and also from its other end by a second lever 13. Two gripper supporting arms 3 are rockably arranged on a head member 2 of the hollow pole 1. Each gripper 11 has a pair of spaced lugs 11a each of which has a recess into which the forked ends 3a of the arms 3 are pushed. This enables the grippers to be interchangeable. It also prevents the grippers from being twisted in relation to the longitudinal axis of the pole. A pair of toggle levers 4, 5 are pivoted at 6, 7 to the arms 3 and hingedly connected with the upper end of a rod 8 which is slidably mounted in the hollow pole 1. A spring 10 bears between the head 2 and a flange 10a fixed to the rod 8. and tends to close the supporting arms 3. The operating lever 9 is formed as an extension of the toggle lever 5. The rod 8 may either extend within the pole down to the bottom operating lever 13 or a cable 12 may connect the rod 8 to the lever 13. An insulator 15 may be inserted between the rod 8 and cable 12 and the operating handles and the lower end of the pole may be coated with insulating material.
