A rocket discharger having a barrel 1 closed at one end by a plug 2 of synthetic resin is provided with a spring-stressed striker 7 housed in a sleeve 3 integral with the plug. The sleeve has a metal liner 4 and mounted on the plug is a rotatable handle 5. The striker has a cylindrical body with an enlarged head 10 and a flattened end 9, which when the striker is cocked engages a hole in the handle, two pins 15 projecting from the head 10 then bear against a sleeve 16 coaxial with the sleeve 3. When the handle 5 is rotated, the striker also rotates until the pins 15 are aligned with longitudinal slots 17 in the sleeve 16, whereupon the spring 13 drives the striker forwardly to discharge a projectile placed in the barrel 1. The plug 2 has a frusto-conical recess which houses a block 19 held in place by a circlip 20 and engaging the sleeve 16. Also housed in the block 19 is a detonator 23 and an explosive charge 24 which ejects the projectile. Accidental operation of the device is prevented by a pin or screw 26 which locks the handle 5 to the plug 2. Specification 591,362 is referred to.
