摘要
A cylinder lubricant for marine diesel engines burning fuel of high sulphur content, comprises a mineral lubricating oil incorporating at least 5 wt. per cent of an oil-soluble organic non-aromatic amine containing at least 7 carbon atoms. The term "non-aromatic" means that the amino group is not directly attached to an aromatic nucleus. Commerical mixtures of amines may be used, the non-oil soluble components being removed by filtration. The amines used may be primary, secondary or tertiary. Mono- or poly-amines may be used. Suitable amines listed are: benzylamine, n-octylamine, di-n-octylamine, oleylamine, dicyclohexylamine, di-n-octyl methylamine, cocoamines, soy-amines and rosin amines. In examples, mineral oils or mixtures thereof contain: oleylamine (technical grade); soy-amine (technical grade); rosin amine; and R-NH-CH2-CH2-CH2-NH2, where R is a mixture of alkyl groups derived from coconut fatty acids. Insoluble matter is removed by filtration. According to the Provisional Specification the salts of the amines may be used, e.g. oleylamine acetate or monoethanolamine naphthenate. Specification 578,476 is referred to.
