761,309. Cathode-ray tube mountings. PHILIPS' ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Sept. 20, 1954 [Sept. 23, 1953], No. 27147/54. Class 40(7) A television camera tube is removably mounted in a housing which is removably and adjustably mounted in a frame which, in turn, is removably and adjustably mounted in the camera housing. The tube housing 17 (Figs. 1, 2 and 3) comprises a cylindrical part consisting of two portions 17a and 17b (each including 'half of the oblique neck portions 17c) the portion 17b having an apertured front end 30 and a rear end plate 29 and being secured to the portion 17a by means of hinges 31, 32 so that the housing can be opened and closed, a latch 35 securing the two portions when in the latter condition. The tube 18 is supported in the housing by means of an open resilient ring 36 fixed to the inside of the housing and by three resilient strips 34 carried by a ring 33 which is secured to the front end 30 and acts as a stop for the narrow end of the tube. The frame comprises two yokes 5a, 5b (Fig. 1), interconnected by a member 6 and provided with open slots 7, 8 respectively by means of which the frame may be attached to or detached from a sleeve 9 slidably mounted on shaft 3 (which extends between the walls 1, 2 of the camera housing) and adjustable by means of a rack and pinion 12 and 12a, a pin 4 fixed to the wall 1 co-operating with an opening 13 in yoke 5a forming a guide to maintain the frame in the correct lateral position. The tube housing is mounted in the frame with its forward end supported at three points 19, 20, 21, Fig. 4 (the first two of which are on the yoke 5a and the latter of which is carried by a spring blade 22 secured to the yoke 59) and its rear end is supported by means of a pin 25 (Figs. 1 and 2) carried by the housing and clamped in an open slot 24 in the yoke 5b by means of thrust rings 27, 28 and a screw control knob 26 the slot opening 24 being of such size as to allow the direction of the axis of the housing (and therefore of the tube) to be aligned with the axis of the lens system 16. The housing (together with the tube) may also be rotated about the axis X-X (Fig. 2) by means of a worm wheel 37 and a worm 38 (Figs. 2 and 3) provided with a control knob 40. The focusing coils 41a and beam deflecting coils 42 may be adjusted by means of control knobs 47 and 52 respectively.
