The prime mover 2 driving a slewing crane is mounted on the undercarriage at the side of the chassis between the front and rear axles. A second prime mover 7 may be accommodated at the opposite side of the chassis and the prime movers are supported by brackets 11, 12. The prime movers are coupled to chain drives or gearing to propel the crane and to the slewing, luffing and hoisting gear.
