A device adapted to be driven through a tube by fluid pressure comprises a cutting section 3 formed by a helical coil of wire, one end of which extends centrally through the coil to form an integral axial stem 4, and a washer 6 of rubber connected to the free end of the stem and adapted to make fluid-tight contact with the bore of the tube. As shown, the washer is mounted in a groove in a boss 5 secured to the stem and the pitch of the coil 3 decreases towards the washer, although the pitch may be constant ; the coil is of steel wire square in cross-section. Preferably, two such devices are passed in succession through the tube, the first being slightly smaller in diameter than the second. According to the Provisional Specification, the shearing or cutting edge of the coil may be interrupted by one or more helical grooves, and the cross-section of the wire forming the coil may be diamond or lozengeshaped.
