Class 107 In a machine for trimming the edges of verges of roads or ways of the kind in which a structure having a device for engaging the edge of the verge is carried along it by a tractor 1 travelling on the road or way which has a kerbs tone along the edge of the verge, the structure comprises a bracket-like support carrying an assembly 5 of flails, rotatable on an inclined axis A, means being provided for coupling the support 4 to the tractor 1 and for transmitting drive to rotate the flails about, the axis. Said means comprise frame parts 4a attached to a hydraulic lift mechanism 2 and also by connections 21 to a channel part 4b, a drive coupling 7 connected to the power take off 3 mounted on a ball-bearing arrangement 6, and connected thereto by bevel gears a drive transmitting shaft 9 having an extension 9d. The flails have arms 11 with heads 14 which engage and trim the edge. The arms 11 are of wire cable, fixed at 11a and 11b to the extension 9a by plates 12 and screws 13. The heads 14 are made up of a metal block 15 having a slot 15d forming a hook attached at 11c to the flail by closing it with a plug bracket 17 fixed by screw 18.
