Type carrier for telegraph type printing apparatus

[Also in Group XVI] In a type-carrier for a printing-telegraph receiver having a number of parallel rows of type members supported so that the type faces lie on a part-cylindrical surface, each type member is slidable under spring control in front and rear part-cylindrical plates which are coaxial with the said surface and the rear one of which is readily detachable to remove the support for the rear of the type members which are then retained by the front plate under the control of the springs. The type-carrier comprises curved plates 1, 2 forming portions of cylindrical surfaces, attached to blocks 3, 4 carrying mounting pins 7 and 8, and the type members 13 have shanks 12 engaging in slots in the plates 1, 2. Individual springs 14 engage slots 15 in the shanks so that the type members are automatically returned after actuation by the printing hammer, and are retained in position in the plate 1 when the rear plate 2 is removed for the repair or replacement of the components.
