Bottles are filled and sealed by machines housed in a pressure chamber. The apparatus shown in plan in Fig. 2 comprises a washer and steriliser 1 from which bottles are fed on to conveyer 4 which carries them through a rotating air lock 12 into a pressurised chamber 7 containing a filling machine 2 and a sealing machine 3. They are then discharged through rotating air lock 13. The pressure is maintained in the chamber by a blower 8 and an air lock 15 is provided to enable an operator 9 to enter. The apparatus enables liquids to be filled at a temperature above their normal boiling point.
