805,780. Guiding wire-cloths or felts of paper-making machines &c. VOITH G.m.b.H., J. M. June 18, 1957 [June 30, 1956], No. 19142/57. Class 96. Wander of a wire-cloth or felt 5 of a papermaking machine &c. is corrected by a pivoted feeler 9 contacting the edge of the wire &c., movement of which displaces a plunger 10 of a valve 11 to control pneumatic pressure on a diaphragm 23, a rod 25 of which moves a link system 28 ... 31 to move upwardly or downwardly a plate 24 and column 33 supporting a bearing 2 of a guide roll 1, such movement of the guide roll 1 correcting the wander. Part or all of the weight of the bearing 2 &c. is carried by springs 36 so that low pressure only is needed on the (large) diaphragm 23. In addition, manual setting of the roll 1 or correcting of wander may be effected by rotating the diaphragm-casing 21 and with it, the diaphragm 23 and rod 25 so that a threaded end of the latter screws more or less deeply into a threaded sleeve 27 which is secured to the system, a stop 25 being provided.
