The rotor comprises lower and upper discs 18, 19 joined by struts 20 and is supported for rotation on the shaft 16 within a stator cage comprising lower and upper frames 12, 13 coupled by uprights 14. The radially inner edges 27, 28 of the blades carry pins sliding in arcuate slots 25, 26 and are coupled by the respective connecting rods 29, 30 to two-armed levers 33 rotatable on the shaft 16 but coupled thereto by the helical springs 34.
