In a device for exterminat ing insects especially flies comprising a liquid-tight dish-shaped base on which is placed a plate 3 made o absorbent material impregnated with insect stomach poison, and if desired also with an enticing substance, the base comprises a wide-rimmed deep dish with an internal base rim 5 or spacers 6, and on this rim or these spacers there is positioned a plate with a marginal cut-out 4, the plate preferably being formed centrally with a somewhat recessed surface marking having a colour which attracts the insects.
