摘要
906,697. Gloves. GERARD, J. C. Nov. 19, 1958 [June 2, 1958], No. 37301/58. Class 141. [Also in Group VIII] A disposable medical examining glove is formed from synthetic plastic sheet material by disposing a double web of the material on a web of paper and stamping the double web with a heated die shaped to the outline of the desired glove, the die being at a temperature sufficient to cut the plastic webs into the shape of the die and to seal the opposing edges of the cut plastic outline but to avoid charring of the paper web. As shown, webs of plastic material 4 and 6 together with a web of paper 8 are fed from feeding station 10 to stamping station 12 where the cutting and sealing assembly 38 descends on the composite web supported on backing-plate 36 and cuts and seals the edges of the plastic webs in the desired form. The web then passes to lubricating station 14 where a lubricating material such as talcum powder is blown into the formed glove and then past a cutting-knife 48 for trimming off the edges thus leaving separated gloves resting on the paper web. The gloves &c. then pass to a waste removal station 16, consisting of a hopper 54 for receiving the waste plastic material and a hopper 56 for receiving the waste paper strip, and then to a web cutting station 18 where a transverse knife 57 cuts the paper web so that each glove with a paper backing falls into hopper 60. The webs are fed intermittently and dancers 72 and 78 are provided to take up the slack in the webs. The feed is so arranged that when one glove is being stamped another is at the lubricating station and another is being cut off by knife 57.
