In a supply system as described in the parent Specification, wherein the excitation circuits of two self-excited alternators connected in parallel are coupled on the A.C. sides to minimize unequal distribution of load, parallel operation of two dissimilar machines is now made possible by the use of balancing transformers for coupling their excitation circuits. To compensate for the difference in generator characteristics the secondary windings 8, 88 of the voltage and current operated transformers 3, 33 are connected through a variable ratio balancing auto-transformer 10. In a modified circuit, Fig. 2, the voltage-operated primary 44 is tapped and connected to primary winding 4 through a balancing transformer secondary winding 15, fed from the supply by primary winding 17.
