Low molecular weight graft copolymers are prepared by heating and agitating a mixture of vinyl acetate and polyisobutylene in the presence of an aliphatic ketone containing alkyl radicals having 1-4 carbon atoms and an organic peroxide catalyst. The ketone may be acetone or methyl ethyl, methyl isopropyl or methyl butyl ketone and the peroxide may be benzoyl, acetyl or lauroyl peroxide. The product may be used as chewing-gum base.
