843,284. X-ray apparatus. DEUTSCHE GOLD UND SILBER-SCHEIDEANSTALT VORM. ROESSLER. Dec. 20, 1957 [Dec. 22, 1956], No. 39666/57. Class 98(1) Fine structural charges of matter are recorded by means of X-rays, gamma rays or corpuscula rays falling on a moving photographic receiver after diffraction by the specimen under examina tion, the radiation-receiving surface being large enough to ensure the curved lines of the diffraction pattern are recorded without moving the receiver, and the receiver being moved at a speed adapted to the intensity of the scattered radiation. As shown, parts 51, 52 of a cylindrical housing surround a specimen 53 on a holder- 54 rotatable by a motor 511 and alignable by usual means (not shown). Radiation impinges upon the specimen from a diaphragm 56 and the direct beam enters a back-stop - 57 adapted to allow selectively the direct beam to fall on the film at intervals to provide tune marks. A tube 58 supporting a photographic film 59 is mounted for longitudinal motion at various speeds, An element 55 may be provided for heating the specimen cooling tubes 510 being then provided.
