[Also in Group XXI] An implement for laying lengths of material beneath the surface of the ground 15, namely, electricity cable, flexible water pipe, tile drains or rubble for drainage purposes by first opening up at least one oblique slit into which the said material 17 is passed and allowing the slit to close at least partly on moving forward, comprises a share 1, 2 fixed to a thickening plough body the outside of which forms a landslide 4, 5 and the inside of which forms a guiding surface 7, 8 to elevate the earth slice 10 to widen the slit. There is at least one passage 11 in the plough body for introducing the material 17 and a projection 13 attached to the bottom of the surface 7, 8 indents the bottom tip of the slice 10. The cutting edge of the share 1, 2 is inclined backwards relative to the lower edge 6, and apertures 16 therein may convey liquid to diminish friction between the soil and surfaces 4, 7, 5 and 8. Into one slit 12 material such as rubble may be introduced through an aperture 37 between the surface 8 and the landslide 5 and guided by a curved plate 38 into an aperture 39 at the plough rear. In a modification, the surface 8 and the landslide 5 are united to form a single plate, whereas, when the slice of earth is cut by cutters in front of the share 1 and 2, the landslide 5 and the upper portion of the edge 2 may be wholly or partly omitted. The plough body may be drawn or pushed by a track-laying tractor, in connection with which a levelling device is used to obtain a slight fall with drainage pipes.
