877,184. Musical tops. FUCHS, F., [trading as FUCHS, M. [firm of]]. Feb. 22, 1960 [Feb. 21, 1959), No. 6189/60. Class 132(3). The casing of a musical toy top has an upper part which is detachably secured to a lower part, and "tunes" produced by the top may be varied by changing part of a sound-producing device contained within the casing. As shown in Fig. 1, the casing part c engages the part b with a force fit, and an apertured disc h for cooperation with a disc f provided with reeds g is removably mounted on a sleeve k. By changing the disc h with one having different apertures, a different "tune" is produced. Means for separating the casing parts, b, c comprises a non-circular rotatable member u which, when turned by a key v, forces the upper casing part c off the lower part b. In a modified construction, Fig. 10 (not shown), no key is required, the rim of the lower casing part being slotted to provide springy segments which permit ready separation. A spring n maintains the disc h in position and may be retained in position, when the casing parts are separated, by lugs jl, j2 provided on an air vane j.
