857,329. Transformers. MASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKEN. Aug. 20, 1959 [Aug. 28, 1958], No. 28552/59. Addition to 823,566. Class 38 (2). A transformer winding designed to withstand impulse voltages comprises superimposed and serially connected cylindrical layers of turns wound axially of the winding first in one direction and then in the other as described in the parent Specification, at least one winding section having several parallel branches. Fig. 1 shows four conductors first wound in pairs in spiral discs 1, 11, 1SP1/SP, 11SP1/SP and then in helical layers, the conductors 1-31 and 32-63 being connected in series at K and being in parallel with the conductors 1SP1/SP-31SP1/SP and 32SP1/SP-63SP1/SP which are connected in series at KSP1/SP. Figs. 3 and 4 show two winding sections in which four conductors adjacent perpendicularly to the core axis A are first wound in spiral discs and then in helical layers. The winding may have 2n conductors of which n are connected in parallel.
