Improvements in and relating to the deposition of particles from mists, smokes and aerosols

In a method of preserving or flavouring foodstuffs by depositing on them particles of smoke, mist or aerosol, e.g. wood smoke, the particles are electrically charged at spaced intervals in the path of the smoke, mist or aerosol and are deposited in a space, or spaces, free of an externally-applied electric field. The smoke may be introduced at spaced points along the length of the charging zone, or may be passed through different lengths of the charging zone, or the speed of flow of the smoke may be varied. The electric field may be rectified, unsmoothed A.C., or interrupted D.C. Particular arrangements of charging and deposition zones are given (see Group XL (a)). Specification 814,121 is referred to.
