In a wicket in which each of the three stumps 4 is so mounted on a base plate 1 spiked to the ground that it can swing down in any direction and is restored to the vertical by a spring, the end of the stump has a socket extension 5 taking over a bell-mouthed tubular member 3 fixed to the base and a tension spring 6 is fixed at one end to a pin 8 on the member 3 on the plate 1 and at the other end to a pin 10 at the inner end of a recess 9 in bottom of the stump.
