878,928. Generating combustion products under pressure. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd., JOSEPH. April 1, 1960 [April 3, 1959], No. 11355/59. Class 51 (1). [Also in Group XXVI] The invention relates to a fuel supply manifold for liquid fuel combustion apparatus such as for a gas-turbine engine of the kind comprising either an annular air casing containing either a single annular flame tube or a plurality of annularly disposed flame tubes, or an annular assembly of flame tubes each disposed in its own tubular air casing. A plurality of body parts 9 is attached to the air casing or air casings 6 of the apparatus at angularly-spaced positions and each body part carries a burner nozzle 8 and has a pair of mutually inclined, oppositely directed and intercommunicating tubular spigots 13, 14 which are in communication with a passage 12 in the body part leading to the burner nozzle. A pair of sleeves 15, 16 are slidably mounted on the spigots 13, 14, each sleeve having a flange by which it is connected to the body part and each sleeve extending beyond the associated spigot and receiving one end of a pipe 17, 18, the other end of the pipe being received in a sleeve connected to an adjacent body part 9. A pair of sealing rings 19, 20 are provided within each sleeve 15, 16 to co-operate with the associated spigot 13, 14 and pipe 17, 18. The body parts 9 are secured to the air casing or casings 6 by means of bolts passing through the flange 10. A second passage 12a is provided in each body part 9, the passage 12a communicating with a pair of spigots 13a, 14a mounted on the body part similarly to the spigots 13, 14. The spigots 13a, 14a are associated with sleeves 15a, 16a and pipes 17a, 18a similarly to the spigots 13, 14. Fuel supply inlet pipes 22, 23 (Fig. 1, not shown), are connected to one of the body parts, fuel from the inlet 22 flowing through the pipes 17, 18 and through the passages 12 in the body parts 9 to the main fuel inlets of the burners 8, while fuel from the inlet 23 flows through the pipes 17a, 18a and through the passages 12a to the idling fuel inlets of the burners 8.
