A plurality of printing foils F are clamped on the printing cylinder of an offset duplicating machine by means of grippers 1 which are mounted on a rotatable shaft 3 and are held in the closed position by springs 2, some of the grippers being opened earlier and closed later than others, each gripper having associated therewith cam means 4 and a member 6 the head 8 of which is adjustable to vary the time at which the gripper is opened so that the foils may be independently clamped by the grippers. Operation of a linkage 5 turns a locking member 11, the grippers 1 which are adjusted to open early are moved against the action of their springs, and a pawl 10 engages a first recess in the member 11. On further movement of the linkage 5 the member 11 is rotated further, the rest of the grippers 1 open, and the pawl engages the second recess in the member 11. The foils are fed to the cylinder and the grippers are closed on operation of a lever 12 which lifts the pawl from the said second recess. The grippers 1 are loosely rotatable on a shaft 3 and the grippers 1, the bearings 7, and the cam devices 4 are axially slidable in a groove in the shaft 3 in order to clamp a very narrow foil F at any desired place.
