930,587. Tamper-proof closures. ROSEDALE ASSOCIATED MANUFACTURERS Ltd. Oct. 30, 1961 [Nov. 11, 1960], No. 38768/61. Class 125(3). A tamper-proof closure, preferably made of an elastic thermoplastics material, for a bottle or the like comprises an internally threaded screw cap 4, Fig. 2, and a separate safety ring 7 with a beading 8 which locks beeneath a similar beading 2 on the bottle neck, a flange 6 on the cap lying, before removal of the cap, under a flange 5 on the ring. Either or both of the said flanges may be resilient or formed with radial notches or weakenings so that the cap may easily be removed; however, when the cap is replaced, the flange 6 will lie above the flange 5, indicating prior removal of the cap. On said cap is a sealing extension 9, which may also have the shape of a cup or ring collar, or a plain portion may be provided above the screw threads to grip the bottle neck. In a modification, Fig. 9, on outlet fitting 16 is locked into a hole in the flat metal wall 15 of a container by a safety ring 20 upon initial screwing-down of a cap 19 similar to that already described.
