A high-frequency current transmission system includes a hollow tubular conductor 10 having a longitudinal slot 11, a concentric inner conductor 12 and brushes 19, 22 in sliding engagement with the conductors, the brush 19 engaging the inner conductor extending through the slot in the outer conductor. Insulating spacers 14 support the inner conductor and are slotted in alignment with slot 11. The brushes 19, 22, mounted in holders 21, 23, respectively, are carried by an insulating slider 18 which moves parallel to the outer conductor and is in turn carried by, for example, a work-head to be supplied with current. Power is fed to the central conductor through a lead 31, Fig. 4, connected to the conductor by a T-piece 33 which is received between two parts of conductor 12 and clamped. The two parts of the previously divided outer conductor are joined together again by bridgepieces 35, 36. The lead 31 may be shielded by a tubular shield 39 which may form a return current lead and be connected to the outer conductor 10 or to one or both of the bridgepieces 35, 36.
