A switch suitable for controlling an automatic washing-machine comprises a rotatable insulating control disc 2 having concentric cam tracks 5, each engaging the tip 7 of a rigid metal contact lever 6 to open contacts 9, 10, normally closed by a spring 11. The levers are arranged in four groups, each lever being offset by 90 degrees from its neighbour on the adjacent cam track, and being pivoted about a semiopen bearing 13, 14 supported by an insulating housing 4 and carrying a metal lug 15, a soldering lug 16 being attached to the guide 12 for the lever 6. The control disc 2 is resiliently urged against balls 33 guided in a cage 34 or in grooves in a base-plate 1 secured to the housing 4. An alternative way of mounting the spring 11 is described, Fig. 4 (not shown).
