In a method of making a reflector for car headlamps a rectangular metal strip is formed into a paraboloid sector of rectangular contour having two arcuate spaces which are closed by two sides of a metal yoke joined thereto. A paraboloid sector 5 having flanges 12, 12a, a hole 10 and two arcuate spaces 14 bounded by flats 13 is formed from a rectangular metal blank 5a. A yoke 6 having two parallel sides 7 and a continuous flange 21 with tongues 22 is formed from a metal blank 6a and welded at 23 to the sector 5 so that the sides 7 are attached to the flats 13 thereby closing the arcuate spaces 14. The inner surface is heated with a reflecting material and a support 24 secures a reflector 25 to each of the sides 7. The flange 26 of the headlamp glass 1 is covered with an elastic seal 28 and fitted into the recess formed by the flange 21 and retained by the tongues 22. Specification 841,367 is referred to.
