摘要
Pharmaceutical compositions which may be mixed with table salt to give a "medicated" product stable under conditions of high temperature and humidity consist of a salt of the antimalarials chloroquine or amodiaquine coated with a waxy or fatty substance having a melting point between 37 DEG C. and 120 DEG C., e.g. fatty alcohols or mixtures thereof, animal and vegetable fats and waxes, mineral waxes, long-chain fatty acids and their esters (including those with sorbitan and the mono- or di-polyoxyethylene esters), polyoxyethylene derivatives of partial esters of sorbitan, condensation products of fatty alcohols and ethylene oxide, esters of fatty alcohols with inorganic acids, fatty ethers, e.g. cetyl a -glyceryl ether, mineral and vegetable oils, optionally containing thickening agents or preservatives, hydrogenated vegetable or animal oils and natural or synthetic resins, e.g. shellac and cellulose acetate phthalate, such materials preferably having a melting point above 40 DEG C. Cetostearyl alcohol is stated to be particularly valuable. Coating may be carried out by conventional procedures, e.g. addition of the coating material in solution in a volatile solvent to the drug and removal of the solvent by evaporation, spraying the drug with similar solutions whilst the drug is agitated or, when the melting point of the coating material is below about 120 DEG C. by mixing the ingredients and heating to above the melting point of the waxy or fatty substance followed by cooling and comminution.
