A mineral-mining plough has two carriages 10, 11 braced together by a spring 21 and a plough body 15 is mounted on each carriage in such a way that the bodies may have limited displacement on the carriages so that whilst the leading body engages and mines a face along which the plough is drawn the trailing body is automatically positioned clear of the face. Pivotally secured to each carriage is an arm 17, the arms being pivoted together at 18 to support roof-clearing means 20. The arms 17 may be directly connected to the bodies through horizontal pivot pins or indirectly by the pins 19 being mounted in plates so secured to the upper surfaces of the bodies that each plate is rotatable about a vertical axis.
