A composition for the treatment of scours in animals or chronic respiratory disease in young chicks comprises a carboxylic cation exchange resin-adsorbate of neomycin in association with a therapeutically acceptable diluent or carrier. The neomycin base content of the resin adsorbate is at least 100 micrograms per milligram of resin adsorbate, which may also contain up to 5% by weight of sodium ions. The resin moiety may be amberlite IRC-50. The resin adsorbate may be suspended in syrups, viscous emulsions or semi-solid sucks. It may be mixed with the animal feed or administered as a bolus.
