摘要
A textile lubricant comprises an aqueous solution containing up to 20% by weight of a polyethylene oxide condensate and up to 10% by weight of an antistatic agent. The polyethylene oxide is preferably a polyethylene glycol, liquid at room temperature, with an average molecular weight between 200 and 600. Antistatic agents referred to are those known as "Lubrol" W, "Zelec" NE and "Heatex" ("Lubrol," "Zelec" and "Heatex" are Registered Trade Marks). Optional ingredients are up to 1% by weight of a boundary lubricant such as sodium stearate and, in conjunction therewith, an alkali such as sodium hydroxide, to raise the pH to 8 or 9. Filaments or yarns treated with the lubricant should have an amount of at least 0.2% by weight of the filaments of the non-aqueous components on them. They may then be treated by sliding contact with a hot metal surface, e.g. heated above 140 DEG C., it is particularly suitable for polyethylene teraphthalate. Specification 808,213 is referred to.ALSO:Filaments and yarns are treated by sliding contact with a hot metal surface in the presence of a lubricating composition comprising an aqueous solution containing up to 20% by weight of a polyethylene oxide and up to 10% by weight of a water-soluble antistatic agent. The polyethylene oxide preferably has a molecular weight of 200-600. Antistatic agents referred to are those known as "Lubrol" W, "Zelac" NE and "Heatex" "Lubrol," "Zelac" and "Heatex" are Registered Trade Marks). Optional ingredients are up to 1% of a boundary lubricant such as sodium stearate and, in conjunction therewith, sodium hydroxide to raise the pH to 8 or 9. The compositions are applied to the filaments, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, in amounts such that the filament carries at least 0.2% by weight, based on the filament, of non-aqueous components at any stage prior to making contact with the hot metal surface. Suitable amounts of the composition are 5-20% by weight of the filament. The major proportion of the water evaporates. The treated filaments may be slid over metal plates heated to over 140 DEG C. without leaving deposits, e.g. in drawing, relaxing, crimping and heatsetting operations. Specification 808,213 is referred to.
