926,169. Feeding cigarettes. A. SCHMERMUND. May 16, 1961 [Feb. 6, 1961], No. 17807/61. Class 78 (1). The cigarettes of tray 2 are dumped into a hopper 6 by means of frame 1 pivoted at 3. Thus, the tray 2 is inserted into frame 1 in the position shown, the frame 1 carrying the sliding bar 5 influenced by levers 21, and the frame is elevated to the vertical position above hopper 6 by the operator turning handle 4, the frame being then held by latch 7. The cigarettes are held by the bar 5 until the frame reaches the said vertical position when the bar 5 is slid leftwards to position 5SP1/SP, thus allowing the cigarettes to fall into the lower part of the hopper. This sliding leftwards of bar 5 is effected by the rotation of levers 11 about shaft 40, the levers being released by pawl 27 operated by solenoid 26 as the frame reached the vertical position. The levers 11 are reset into their original position when the frame is next elevated, shaft 3 being connected to shaft 40 via chain 29, shaft 9 and cam 10.
