A multi-platen press particularly for vulcanizing inner tubes or pneumatic tyres comprises top and bottom heating plates 27, 26 acted on by fluid pressure diaphragms 20, 2, and each having mould halves. Other heating plates 28, 29, 30 carry mould halves. Pairs of driven shafts 3, 7 have stops 4, 8 which engage alternately with bottom and top mould halves, to allow one mould to be opened without releasing the pressure on the others. The top and bottom press members slide on rods 13 and abut adjustable stops 25. The top press member is pivotally mounted and is operated by cranks 18 and levers 16.
