摘要
The reaction product of an alkenyl succinic acid or anhydride with an aliphatic or aromatic polyamine containing 2 to 5 amino nitrogen atoms per molecule is further reacted with an aldehyde or ketone containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms per molecule. The product is believed to have the structure: FORM:0985373/C2/1 wherein R is an alkenyl group, X is the residue of the polyamine and R1 and R2 are each hydrogen or an alkyl group. In Example 4, the reaction product is made from equal molar proportions of tetrapropenyl succinic anhydride, p-phenylene diamine and paraformaldehyde. The reaction preferably takes place at elevated temperatures in solution without a catalyst. Suitable polyamines, aldehydes and ketones are listed.ALSO:A novel compound comprises the reaction product of an alkenyl succinic acid or anhydride with an aliphatic or aromatic polyamine containing 2 to 5 amino nitrogen atoms per molecule and reacting the product obtained with an aldehyde or ketone containing 1-10 carbon atoms per molecule. The product is believed to have the structure:- FORM:0985373/C3/1 Exemplified compounds are the reaction products of (1) polyisobutenyl succinic anhydride (m.w.=1800), p-phenylene diamine and para-formaldehyde, (2) polyisobutenyl succinic anhydride (m.w.=900), p-phenylene diamine and paraformaldehyde, (3) polybutenyl succinic anhydride (m.w.=240), diethylene triamine and benzaldehyde and (4) tetrapropenyl succinic anhydride, p-phenylene diamine and paraformaldehyde. The products are useful as hydrocarbon oil and fuel additives (see Division C5).ALSO:Fuel oils, e.g. gasolines, diesel fuels, jet-engine fuels, and No's. 1 and 2 fuel oil, and mineral and synthetic lubricating oils have added to them a small proportion of an azomethine of formula FORM:0985373/C4-C5/1 wherein R is an alkylene or alkenyl group preferably containing 12 to 130 carbon atoms and derived from a polymerized olefin. Olefins exemplified are propylene and isobutylene. The lubricants and fuels may also contain conventional additives, those mentioned including metal organic sulphonates and metal alkyl phenol sulphides in the case of lubricants, and isopropyl alcohol, hexylene glycol and diethylene glycol ethyl ether in the case of fuels.
