An adjustable rigid coupling for connecting two parts of a mechanism in end-to-end relationship, comprises an element 2 of circular cross-section having a threaded portion 5, a second element 3 in the form of an internally threaded sleeve, and a cap nut 4 movable over the portion 5 by screwing, the sleeve being provided with longitudinal slots 10 and a frustoconical head 8 received in the frusto-conical cavity of the nut which cavity is of a greater length than the head 8 and is adapted to press on the slotted part of the sleeve. The peripheral flexibility of the head 8 allows the latter to grip the element 2.
