Improvements in or relating to methods of making hectographic copies from printing master sheets and copy sheets for use in performing the methods

A copy sheet for use in printing comprises a satinized or partially sized paper base sheet and a layer of microscopically small gelatine capsules containing an alcohol such as methyl or ethyl alcohol secured thereto by a binder such as a resinous acid, casein, bentonite, or a colloidal material. The copy sheet is brought into contact with a printing master sheet having a supply of an ethyl alcohol soluble dye, e.g. triphenylonethane, at image areas thereof, and at least some of the capsules are burst and release ethyl alcohol which dissolves part of the dye and causes staining of the sheet at areas thereof corresponding to image areas of the master sheet.
