A crane girder for a travelling gantry adapted to be aligned and interlocked with a second girder has a separate terminal section provided with an inclined inner end face which cooperates with a correspondingly inclined endface on the crane girder in such a manner that relative sliding movement of the terminal section out of alignment with the second girder causes the crane girder length to be reduced. At the same time trolley stop bolts 12 are raised by pins 13 to the inoperative position and the girders are interlocked.
