摘要
A lubricating oil additive (see Division C5) is prepared by mixing an O1O-dialkyl phosphorodithioate with the product obtained by condensing a C2- 12 aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon containing at least one olefinic link with P2S5, treating this mixture with a quantity of alkanol sufficient to transform completely the condensation product into a mixture of acid compounds, and thereafter treating the mixture with at least one compound selected from the oxides, hydroxides and carbonates of zinc, calcium, barium or magnesium to form a salt of such metal(s). The mixture of acid compounds may contain compounds of types: FORM:0963640/C1/1 FORM:0963640/C1/2 and FORM:0963640/C1/3 where R is an olefinic aliphatic or alicyclic group and R1 and R11 are alkyl, so that the final product may comprise the possible combinations of salts and mixed salts of these. Specified olefinic starting materials include the lower polymers of propylene and isobutylene, and terpenes. Generally the molecular ratio of dialkyl phosphorodithioate and the products derived from olefinic compounds is between 5:5 and 9:1.ALSO:A lubricating oil additive is prepared by mixing an O,O-dialkyl phosphorodithioate with the product obtained by condensing a C2-12 aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon containing at least one olefinic link with P2S5, treating this mixture with a quantity of alkanol sufficient to transform completely the condensation product into a mixture of acid compounds, and thereafter treating the mixture with at least one compound selected from the oxides, hydroxides and carbonates of zinc, calcium, barium or magnesium to form a salt of such metal(s).
