In an advancing mine roof support comprising two frames 10, 11 each consisting of a roof and a floor bar interconnected by spaced hydraulic props 14, 15, the frames are coupled together by spacer arms 18, 19 which are pivoted thereto and provided with an eye for the reception of a guide bar 20 or 21, respectively. An advancing jack 22 is connected to the arms and the guide bars carry setting devices 24 whereby they can be positioned to permit lateral displacement of the frames relative to one another. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the frames are provided with laterally extending arms interconnected by advancing- jacks, the arms being laterally adjustable to accommodate lateral displacement of a frame or the jacks being variably fixed thereto.
