A buoyant vest comprises front and rear flexible panels connected by adjustable straps 18, 19 and having inflatable, buoyant gas cells 28 separately, detachably secured thereto as by press stud fastenings 26 attached to tabs on the cells. The panels may be made of rubber or plastics coated waterproof fabric, such as nylon coated with neoprene. The vest is of use to novice swimmers.
