The invention comprises tertiary amine salts of 3,6-endoxohydro-orthophthalic acids, being the acid and neutral salts of the acids with one or more tertiary amines of formula R1R2NR3 where R1 is a C12-C18 aliphatic hydrocarbon group and R2 and R3 are C1-C4 alkyl groups The acids have less than three double bonds in the ring and may be the dihydro, tetrahydro (both isomers) or hexahydro acids. The acids may be substituted by chlorine, bromine, C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkoxy, aryl, aryloxy, nitro, cyano, or haloalkyl groups. The amine may be a dialkylcocoamine, soyaamine, tallowamine, stearylamine, laurylamine, myristylamine, oleylamine, or linoleylamine.
