Support roll arrangement for backed-up roller levellers

A roller type sheet-metal straightening machine has short back up rolls 44 positioned longitudinally of the work rolls of the first line such that they are in line with the space between any two adjacent short back-up rolls 74 of the second line of work rolls. Intermediate rolls 41, 66 may be provided between the work rolls and back-up rolls. As seen in Fig. 2, the machine is of the double tilt type, the upper and lower banks each being divided to form three sections 54, 26, 55, and may be used in conjunction with power wind-on and braked wind-off drums to provide tension on the workpiece.
