Polyether acetals which may be end-blocked are stabilized with a compound of formula: FORM:0958908/C3/1 in which n is 2 or more, R2 is a divalent organic radical or a direct chemical bond or is a divalent organic radical containing one or more of the groups: FORM:0958908/C3/2 linked in chain or lateral positions. R1 and R3 are hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl or alkaryl radicals, which radicals R1 and R3 may be linked by a direct carbon bond and wherein the radicals R1,R2 and R3 may be further substituted. Polyformaldehyde especially when acylated is the preferred acetal. Specified stabilizers are poly-(ethylene-bis-thiuram disulphide), poly-(trimethylene-bis-thiuram disulphide), poly (hexamethylene-bis-thiuram disulphide), poly (decamethylene-bis-thiuram disulphide), poly (p-phenylene-bis-thiuram disulphide), poly (N-N1-dimethyl-ethylene-bis-thiuram disulphide), poly (N-N1-diethyl-ethylene-bis-thiuram disulphide), FORM:0958908/C3/3 FORM:0958908/C3/4 FORM:0958908/C3/5 FORM:0958908/C3/6 The stabilizer may be used as a suspension e.g. in hydrocarbons, chlorinated and nitrogenated hydrocarbons, alcohols, ethers and water; especially suitable is trichlorethylene.
