A curable polyepoxide composition comprises a poly-1,2-epoxide of a linear oligomer of two to four butadiene units or a linear co-oligomer of one to four butadiene units and an alkenylaromatic compound having the general formula FORM:1023215/C3/1 in which R1 denotes a hydrogen atom or -CH3, -C2H5, -C3H7 or -C4H9 and R2 denotes a radical R1, -CH=CH2 or Cl, and a curing agent. The polyepoxide may be epoxidized 3 - methylhepta - 1,4,6 - triene; 3 - methylhepta - 1,3,5 - triene; 3 - methyl-hepta - 2,4,6 - triene; octa - 1,3,6 - triene; octa - 1,3,5 - triene; dodecatetraene; methylundecatetraene; dimethyldecatetraene; hexadecapentaene; methylpentadecapentaene; dimethyltetradecapentaene; trimethyltridecapentaene or mixtures thereof or 1-phenyldeca-1,4,8-triene. The curing agents may be polycarboxylic acids their anhydrides in the presence or absence of polyols or amines.ALSO:Linear oligomers of two to four butadiene units or linear co-oligomers of one to four butadiene units and an alkenylaromatic compound, such as 3 - methylhepta - 1,4,6 - triene; 3 - methylhepta - 1,3,5 - triene; 3 - methylhepta - 2,4,6 - triene; octa - 1,3,6 - triene; octa - 1,3,5 - triene; dodecatetraene; methylundecatetraene; dimethyldicatetraene; hexadecapentaene; methylpentadecapentaene; dimethyltetradecapentaene, are epoxidized by peroxy acids or b -hydroxyethylacetyl peroxide. In examples, (1) 3 - methylheptatriene, (2) 1 - phenyldeca - 1,4,8 - triene, (9) mixed isomers of dodecatriene and (10) mixed oligomers containing 4 butadiene units are epoxidized using a methylene dichloride solution of peracetic acid in the presence of anhydrous sodium carbonate to give mixtures of the corresponding epoxides. The mixtures of Examples (1) and (2) are fractionated to give (1) methylheptatriene monoxide and dioxide, and (2) 1-phenyldeca-1,4,8-triene dioxide and trioxide.
